Where We Come From: The Family Tree Project

The Prologue

Every good book or project begins with an introduction, a statement which tells the reader the author's purpose and intent. Your Prologue serves the same purpose. In order to give you some background in genealogy, I have attached an article published in the New York Times about the value of students investigating their family heritage, the value of you studying who and when you came from.
After reading the NYT article, your assignment is to write an introduction to your Family Tree Project. It should be one paragraph which answers the following questions:
  1. What does family mean to you?
  2. Why do people study family stories?
  3. What are your goals for the Family Tree Project??
  4. What have you learned so far that has surprised you?

Things to remember when creating your prologue:
1. All proper nouns should be capitalized.
2. All words should be spelled correctly.
3. Your Prologue should be justified on both sides.
4. Your assignment should include a proper heading
(Name, First and Last; Subject and Section; Date Submitted; Title of Assignment).
